61 The Hijack and The Mighty

To get experience for an upcoming airline commercial, the company sets Ann up to work as a flight attendant. Donald joins Ann on her flight because she's scheduled to spend an extra day in Miami. Hearing Don will be there, Ann's father promptly buys a ticket and joins them. Once on the plane, Ann spots what she believes is a Cuban hijacker and in no time, she and the other passengers tackle the man, grab his gun, and tie him up. That's just about the time when the news comes that the man is a detective hired by the airlines to prevent hijackings. There goes Ann's big commercial! Guest stars include Arlene Golonka as Terry, the stewardess attracted to Donald (she also played Bonita La Salle in Episode #59), Jane Dulo, the loud-mouthed passenger (who also played a nurse in Episode #28), and Valentin deVargas as Mr. Gracie, the hijacker/detective.

62 Secret Ballot

Ann is excited at the prospect of voting in her first presidential election. She's gone to the library to read everything she can about the issues and the political process. But on Halloween night, when Ann's father asks her what party she registered with, Ann feels it's her right to preserve her secret ballot. Her father takes offense and Ann leaves in a huff with Donald in tow, but when she must return to retreive her forgotten purse, they find her parents gone and the house locked. Penny Marshall makes a brief appearance uncredited in the opening sequence.

63 Should All Our Old Acquaintance Be Forgot?

When Don has trouble getting reservations for New Year's Eve, Ann suggests they spend a quiet evening at her apartment and ring in the new year (1969) more privately. But when Ann's parents drop by (for one quick drink) and are soon followed by most of Ann's neighbors and friends, Ann and Don are reduced to spending a fortune on champagne, serving hors d'ovres made of peanut butter and corn flakes, and using flower vases as glasses!

64 Eleven Angry Men and That Girl

Ann takes her jury duty to heart and will not go along with the rest of the panel when they all want to vote "guilty" against a man accused of hitting his wife with an ashtray. After reasoning that he couldn't have hit her with his right hand, she convinces the others and they vote for acquittal. So imagine her embarasement (and the judge's demeanor) when right after the verdict is read, the man picks up an ashtray from a courtroom table and belts his wife again! Guest stars include Hope Summers (Clara Edwards of The Andy Griffith Show) as Miss Marker, Stu Margolin as Talley (who appears 2 episodes later as another character), Bobo Lewis as Mrs. Franklin (who also appears as Mrs. Clarn in Episode #73), and Dick Wilson as Mr. Franklin (better known as Mr. Whipple who squeezes Charmin!)

65 A Muggy Day in Central Park

When Ann's purse is grabbed by a mugger in Central Park, her first thoughts are to keep this incident from her father, who is sure to blame it on her life in New York City. Later, when Donald arrives at Police Headquarters to pick her up, he is led to the special "Park Detail" - where the policemen dress as women to catch muggers. He figues this would be a fascinating article for Newsview, so he dons a dress and goes undercover for the story. Once in drag, who should see him, but Ann's father. But Ann won't let Donald tell him the real reason he's in a dress and the evening only gets crazier from there! Guest stars include Dick Wesson as Charlie, Noam Pitlik as Harry the Mugger, Dort Clark as the Desk Seargent, Joe Perry as Foster, Bruce Mars as Schaffner (better known for his appearance as 'Finnigan' in the "Shore Leave" episode of Star Trek), and Paul Sorenson as Don's 'date', Detective Bill Morgan.

66 7 1/4 (Part 1)

When Don receives an assignment to do an article on media violence in Los Angeles, Ann finds a way to accompany him. However, confusion over their hotel reservations have Mr. Marie calling Ann's room and getting Donald. Trying to keep up an appearance of propriety, Ann goes out of her way to convince everyone at the hotel that she and Donald are not up to anything! Guest star Buddy Lester plays the waiter who must shuttle their dinner between the two rooms as they decide whose room to eat in! He also played the bartender in Episode #58.

67 7 1/4 (Part 2)

While in California with Donald, Ann gets cast in a series of commercials for Action Soda Pop (made from squash) that require death-defying stunts. They've got her parachuting, driving over cliffs, and being blown up! Donald is worried about her safety, but she's conviced once again that this could be her ticket to stardom. Unfortunately, her violent commercials, and Don's article on anti-violence collide and there goes Ann's big chance! Once again Jesse White guest stars as producer Phil Bender who keeps her in harm's way. Guest cast also includes Peter Bonerz (Jerry Robinson of The Bob Newhart Show), and Stu Margolin (who also appeared in Episode #62). Barry Williams (Greg Brady of The Brady Bunch) appears uncredited in the opening sequence as a kid asking for Ann's autograph.

68 Decision Before Dawn

When Ann receives a $743.62 residual check from an appearance on a TV show, everyone has their own ideas of what she should do with the money. Her mother wants her to buy a piano for culture's sake; her father suggests stocks for future security, and Donald suggests a trip to Hong Kong. Realizing what she really needs is a new bed, Ann sets off shopping and runs into the Don Juan of mattress salesmen (played by F-Troop's Larry Storch.) Also appearing is Vic Tayback (better known as Mel from Alice) as Max, who delivers her new bed.

69 The Face in the Shower Room Door

When a prospective new building tenant shows up at Ann's door to view an apartment, she realizes her shower door is stuck and she's trapped. Her visitor, a handsome Italian restauranteur, galantly rescues her. Taken with Ann, he stops by to visit later to find her flustered by a burnt roast she'd made for Donald. Swearing he can rescue her lost dinner, he busies Ann and Don with kitchen tasks while he arranges to have their meal catered from his restaurant. The high-styled meal is more than Donald can take and before long, he's insulting the waiters and brimming with jealousy. Somehow, he can't understand why Frederico acts as though "he's seen Ann with her clothes off!" Cesare Danova guest stars as Frederico Gente. Also appearing are Renzo Cesana as the Headwaiter that clashes with Donald, and Leon Colker as an assistant waiter. Leon also appears as a waiter in Episode #70.

70 Just Donald and Me and Jerry Makes Three

Neighbors Jerry and Ruth Bauman (Bernie Kopell and Carolan Daniels) have an argument over Jerry adding sour cream to his baked potato and in no time their stubborness leads them to split up. Ann and Donald try valiantly not to take sides but find it impossible to be alone with each other with a lonely Jerry spending every waking moment with them. In desperation, Ann and Don engage in a plan to make Jerry and Ruth each believe the other is living it up! Karen Arthur guest stars as Gloria, Jerry's secretary that wants to comfort him in his time of lonliness.

71 Sock It To Me

Against the objections of the director, Ann is awarded a part in a Broadway play by the star, Barry Sullivan (who portrays himself.) Ann is excited to get this opportunity, but when the script calls for Ann to slap Barry, she can't bring herself to do it. Barry tries coaching Ann, but through a series of misunderstandings, he ends up being hit by both Donald and Mr. Marie - yet still not Ann! On opening night, when the moment of truth comes, Ann hesitates and in the end she not only slaps him, she knocks him out cold!

72 The Seventh Time Around

When multi-millionairess "Trixie" Margaret Weatherby sets her sights on Donald as her seventh husband, Ann warns Don of Trixie's intentions. But Don does not believe her and sees Trixie as a "sweet old lady" who thinks of him only as the son she never had. However, soon Donald is promoted to 'foreign correspondent' at Newsview Magazine, with assignments for Spain, England, Switzerland, and Magumbi - each country where Trixie owns a castle, and Ann learns that Trixie Weatherby is the owner of Newsview! Benay Venuta guest stars as Trixie, and Ivor Barry appears as her butler, the Earle of Wickshire.

73 Dark on Top of Everything Else

Through crossed signals, both Ann and Donald believe the other wants a little time to themselves, so they decide to spend their weekend separately. Don says he'll catch up on work, but Ann decides to go to Brewster to visit her parents. When she arrives to find them leaving for a New York Restaurant Convention, she is left to spend her weekend in the big old house alone. She tries to sleep, but every little noise scares her and the final one leads her to the basement where the door slams, locking her downstairs. Upon investigating the source of the noise, she jumps on a folding bed to close an out-of-reach window and becomes trapped when the bed snaps shut on her and locks. Ted Bessell directed this episode.

74 Ann vs. Secretary

Donald's sexy new secretary, Pat Crawford, arranges to accompany him on an out of town assignment to Washington, D.C., hoping to steal his heart from Ann. Feeling neglected and rejected, Ann decides she'll spare Don the pain of breaking up with her and she'll have it all done by the time he returns, so she returns all borrowed items of hers and Donald's to their proper apartments. But when she discovers she was wrong, she has only minutes to get everything back to normal before Don finds out. Mary Frann (of TV's Newhart fame) guest stars as Ms. Crawford (though she is credited under the screen name Jennifer Douglas). Queenie Smith appears as Mrs. LaCont - Pat's replacement, and Leon Colker appears as their waiter at Le Petit Claire.

75 The Homewrecker and The Window Washer

When an aggresive bully collides with Ann in an office lobby, only nearby window washer, Rudy Clarn (Jules Munshin) comes to her aid. But while warning him off, the bully slugs Rudy and breaks his nose. Feeling terribly guilty, Ann helps him to the doctor and then home. Rudy's wife, Ethel - a terribly jealous woman, believes there is more to the relationship between Ann and Rudy and threatens to leave him. Ann believes she must get word to Rudy so he can stop her, but how do you find a window washer somewhere in the city of New York?! When she finally locates him, she must barge through a corporate board meeting to lean out their window to speak to Rudy, who is on the ledge cleaning windows. Believing there's a jumper out there, the board chairman calls the police, who in turn bring in a priest. And where is Donald during all this? Getting stood up by Ann over and over again! Guest stars include Bobo Lewis as Ethel (who also appeared in Episode #62, and Oliver McGowan as the chairman (who played the part of the Amusement Planet Caretaker in Star Trek's Shore Leave episode.)

76 The Eye of the Beholder

Ann receives an art object as a gift from Donald, but lets him know how ridiculous she thinks it looks before she knows it is from him. Before long, everyone that comes over to the apartment has a different opinion about it. Jerry (Bernie Kopell) thinks it's a spitoon and begins to clean his pipe on it. Ruth (Carolan Daniels) is embarassed, and points out that it looks like a cow. Ann's father thinks it looks pornographic, and landlord Mr. Brentano props open a window with it believing it to be something broken. Ann refuses Don's offer to return it, believing she should keep it to remind her of her faults. Poor Donald has spent $97.50 on what Ann thinks looks like "brass mashed potatoes with fat hips". Frank Puglia guest stars as Mr. Brentano, and Renata Vanni appears once again as his wife, Rosa Brentano.

77 My Sister's Keeper

Ann gets a commercial for POP Soft Drink, but it requires that she be able to sing. When she totally flunks the singing audition, the producer suggests that Ann's voice be dubbed. Later at the studio Ann is introduced to her "voice", Rose Cassinetti. Learning that Rose gets singing jobs by referrals from her drummer brother, Ann feels she simply must do something to help get Rose's career going professionally. What she does not realize is that Rose is a Nun. Guest stars include McLean Stevenson as Mr. McKorkle, her producer, Terre Thomas (Marlo's real sister) as Sister Rose, and Tony Thomas (Marlo's real brother) as Tony Cassinetti.
*Interesting Note: Danny Thomas (Marlo's real father) makes an uncredited cameo appearance as the priest that Ann bumps into. She says "Oh, excuse me, Father!". He replies, "That's alright, my child..."

78 There Was a Time Ann Met a Pie Man

Ann is offered a part in a comedy vignette show that sounds fabulous at first. She is to play a wealthy, beautiful woman who is dressed in an elegant black gown and covered in a quarter of a million dollars in diamonds from Cartier's. She is to walk down a 40 step staircase very slowly and then pause demurely. Wow. But the catch is - when she gets to the bottom, they hit her with a pie! Ann cannot decide if she wants to do it, but the $500 paycheck convinces her. Afterwards, she is so embarrassed she's wearing dark glasses even in her apartment. It seems everyone she knows has seen the skit, including her father (who's also wearing smoked shades), so when producer Hal Grissom wants to make the skit a continuing gag, she feels she MUST decline - until she discovers they now want big stars to do it - like Julie Andrews and Audrey Hepburn. Jesse White appears once again in yet another part as Hal Grissom. Also appearing are Renata Vanni as Mrs. Brentano, Gene Baylos as Mort, and Lea Marmer as her wardrobe lady.

79 Many Happy Returns

When Ann gets a visit from IRS Agent, Leon Cobb with a bill for $2,600 in back taxes, she must call on Donald for help. But she has a date with her father and does not want him to know of her latest catastrophe. While attempting to sift through Ann's unorthodox filing system, Don ends up covered in flour. When Mr. Marie arrives, he sees Don standing shirtless holding a pillowcase stuffed with papers. Ann's explanation? She tells him Don is there to sort her trash! Jack Mullaney appears as Leon Cobb.

80 The Earrings

It's Valentine's Day, and after Ann makes Don a souffle that sinks, and Don gives Ann roses she is allergic to, they exchange more permanent gifts. She gives him a tie clasp and he gives her a pair of genuine diamond earrings they saw together at Tiffany's. What a gift! But Ann is scared to wear them because of their value. When Don puts his foot down and insists she wear them on their evening of dinner and dancing, one of them indeed disappears. Don wants to make Ann feel better, so he buys another earring and plants it in the apartment where he believes she will find it. She wants to make Don feel better, so she buys one to pretend to find also. When the restaurant calls saying they have found her missing original, she now has two complete pairs! Guest appearances include Fabian Dean as the rose-bearing messenger, and Albert Carrier as their waiter.

81 Fly Me to the Moon

Ann lands an assignment in public relations for the Air Force to promote women in the space program - just as she's begun the job of redecorating Donald's apartment. Don, in the meantime, is trying to work from home on a major article called The Changing Face of Manhattan. His concentration is hindered when carpenters, painters and upholsterers all want answers to decisions Ann left up in the air. Unfortunately - SHE's up in the air - jetting from location to location and talking to Donald from jets, hangars, and centrifuge chambers. And when Don goes looking for his newspaper clippings he's been saving for this article, Ann reveals that she wallpapered his bathroom with them! All of this while Ann tries to decide if Major James who hired her is ignoring her on purpose or because it's part of his "come-on routine". Guest cast includes Robert Colbert as Major Brian James, and Noam Pitlik and Joe Perry as painters Beaumont and Fletcher (who appeared in Episode #67 as the Mugger and a Detective.)

82 The Defiant One

While shopping in a neighborhood grocery, Ann witnesses a young black boy be scolded by the store clerk for stealing a candy bar. When he insists his mother is in the store and will pay for it, he points out Ann as his mom. Ann protects him, pays for the candy, and then brings him home with her. When he tells her he lives on Park Avenue, she does not believe him, so he invents a story of 13 brothers and sisters, fat rats, life in a dirty tenament, and a father who beats him. Appalled, Ann goes so far as to decide to adopt him! A more sensible Donald wants her to call the police, and while they discuss it, the boy calls his wealthy father to tell him he's been kidnapped by a crazy white lady! Guest stars include George Spell as David Johnson - the lost little boy, Terry Carter (known for his role in Battlestar Galactica) as Joseph (J.J.) Johnson - his comedian father, Lewis Charles as store clerk Mr. Elkins, Sid Clute as the police Desk Sergeant, and Ketty Lester as Mrs. Ellis, the 89th Street apartment manager.

83 The Subject Was Rabies

Ann's father is bitten by a stray dog that followed Ann home and after Donald mentions the word Rabies, he is convinced he's feeling symptoms. The only way to know for sure that the dog is not rabid, is to have him tested. But the little pup has run off for parts unknown, so Donald offers neighborhood kids a dollar for every dog they bring to Ann's apartment. In the meantime, the doctor Ann calls alerts the health department and the media! And all of this while Ann is supposed to be leaving to attend an important audition. Guest stars include Jules Munshin as one of Ann's many agents, Harry Fields (he also played Rudy Clarne in Episode #73), Stu Margolin as attending physician Dr. Phillip L. Priddy (who also appeared in Episodes #62 and #64), Ed Peck as Ketchum of the Department of Animal Bites, Jack Colvin as Newsview photographer Bounder, and Dick Balduzzi as the messenger that delivers the Rabies Vaccine.

84 It's So Nice to Have a Mouse Around the House

After cancelling a trip to Brewster with Ann due to an important work assignment at the UN, Donald goes home and tries to get some sleep. But in no time, he's getting hysterical calls from Ann to come over right away! It seems she was awakened by a mouse in her apartment and alone in the dark she's come to believe he's 3 feet tall, and "a cross between a leopard and a beaver"!   Believing there's no other way he'll get the rest he needs for his interview the next day, Donald agrees to come over and swap apartments for the night to tame Ann's fears. But when Mr. Marie arrives early the next morning to find Donald at the door in his undershorts, and Ann sweeping in with the fixings for a "thank you for last night" breakfast, he insists they go to Baltimore for a quickie marriage ceremony! Now Ann must locate this 3-foot mouse so that her father will believe their story. Bill Bramley appears as Bert Weevle, the exterminator.

85 Bad Day at Marvin Gardens

Ann's parents come to the city to attend a baseball game and the theatre with Ann and Donald, but when the game is rained out and the afternoon is unplanned, the foursome opt for a game of Monopoly. In no time, the women are out of it and Lou and Donald make a personal battle of the game. When Donald doesn't want to sell his "Marvin Gardens" property to Mr. Marie, the game heats up, and when Don gives in and offers to simply give the property to him, Lou exclaims, "Nobody gives Lou Marie Marvin Gardens!" The brooding continues at the theatre and when Ann's mom (Helen) agrees with Donald, Lou gets a separate room at their hotel. Finally Don comes to realize Lou's motives and they continue their game to the point where the women can't separate them!

86 Sue Me, Sue Me, What Can You Do Me?

While visiting Newsview to meet Don and Ann, Lou Marie slips on water on the floor of the building where Donald works. Even though he appears unhurt, Jerry scares Mr. Marie into thinking he could have post traumatic shock symptoms, so he has Ann call for Dr. Heindorf from Brewster to check him out. In the meantime, Donald is visited by Stuart Hurly from Newsview's Claims Department who insinuates collusion and wants Mr. Marie to sign a waiver of responsibility. An angry Donald visits the offices of publisher Robert (Big Bob) Prentice only to discover the man is totally unaware of his work, his name, or his accomplishments for the magazine. Frustrated, Donald quits his job, until his managing editor, Charlie Lindstrom, talks him out of it. Guest stars include Ned Glass as Dr. Heindorf, David Astor as Charlie Lindstrom, Alan Oppenheimer as Stuart Hurly, and David Lewis as Prentice.
*Interesting Note: The credits list David Lewis as Mr. "Prentiss", but the office door plate where Donald enters the Publisher's office in the episode clearly reads, "Robert L. Prentice".
