 Lew Parker Lou Marie, Ann's father. Owner of LeParisienne Restaurant in Brewster, New York.
 Rosemary DeCamp Helen Marie, Ann's mother; Lou's wife. Resides in Brewster, New York.
 Billy De Wolfe Jules Benedict, Ann's drama coach and owner of Benedict Drama School.
 Bonnie Scott Judy Bessimer, Ann's neighbor in first season apartment. Mother of baby Stanley.
 Dabney Coleman Dr. Leon Bessimer, Ann's neighbor. Husband of Judy, and is an obstetrician.
 Bernie Kopell Jerry Myer (in very early episodes) then Jerry Bauman (rest of series), Don's co-worker at Newsview and Ann's neighbor as Jerry Bauman.
 Arlene Golonka Margie Myer, Jerry Myer's wife. Seen only in one episode as this character. Guested later as other characters.
 Carolan Daniels Ruth Bauman, Jerry Bauman's wife in all but the last season. Ann's neighbor and friend.
 Alice Borden Ruth Bauman, Jerry Bauman's wife in final season. Ann's neighbor and friend.
 Reva Rose Marcy, Ann's friend. Doesn't seem to have ever been given a last name.
 Ruth Buzzi Margie "Pete" Peterson, Ann's tomboy-ish friend. Never clear where she lives. She seems to simply drop in.
 Bobo Lewis Gloria, Ann's telephone answering service representative. Also played various guest roles before and after.
 Forrest Compton Jonathan Adams, Don's boss at Newsview. Mid-run episodes only; later replaced by James Gregory.
 James Gregory Jonathan Adams, Don's boss at Newsview. Replaced Forrest Compton and remained through series end.
 Phyllis Hill Agnes Adams, wife of Jonathan Adams, Don's boss at Newsview.
 David Lewis Robert L. (Big Bob) Prentice, Publisher of Newsview Magazine.
 David Astor Charlie Lindstrom, Managing Editor of Newsview Magazine.
 George Cisar Frank Hollinger, Don's father; husband of Mildred. In later episodes, his name "becomes" Bert and he's played by Frank Faylen (below.) Lives in St. Louis.
 Frank Faylen Bert Hollinger, Don's father; husband of Mildred. Replaces George Cisar. Lives in St. Louis.
 Mabel Albertson Mildred Hollinger, Don's mother. Takes a lot to warm up to Ann. Lives in St. Louis.
 Gino Conforti Nino, owner of the Italian Restaurant in Manhattan frequented by Ann and Don.
 Frank Puglia Mr. Brentano, Landlord and 'super' in Ann's apartment building in Manhattan.
 Renata Vanni Mrs. Brentano, Landlord's wife in Ann's apartment building in Manhattan.
