No,
this young aspiring actress doesn't have two first names and no last
name. Unusual as it may seem, her last name is Marie, and as you might guess, it
figured into a number of comical misunderstandings. Nevertheless, the name
Ann Marie made such an impression on so many women at the time, there was a
boom in little girls named Ann Marie born of fans of the show over the years that
followed.
Hailing from the small New York town of Brewster, (where she originally worked as a meter maid), Ann is determined to make a big show-business success for herself in New York City (even though she is convinced that she has a rotten name for an actress.) Luckily, she's blessed with luxurious brunette hair, a sparkling smile and a perky personality, not to mention a fabulous apartment and a colorful wardrobe filled with mod dresses, flashy earrings and funky sunglasses.
Although Ann never fails to attract the attention of eligible bachelors, she is committed to her relationship with her steady beau, Don Hollinger, whom she lovingly calls "Donald." As a couple they are very close, even though she lives on her own. She is also very close to her daddy Lou, and her mom Helen, even though they generally do not approve of her becoming an actress.
